Cairo Pics
Pictures: Me in the museum courtyard, Khan market, camel shadows, Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx, camel ride.
Cairo, Egypt
I went on a 24hr tour of Cairo,Egypt. It was amazing to see the Pyramids! I have dreamed for most of my life about going to Cairo and seeing the Pyramids. I also had fun riding a camel and visiting the Egyptian Museum. The museum has so many artifacts and I got to see the Tutankhamen exhibit. All the things I've seen in books over the last years I finally got to see up close. Just Amazing! I also went to a huge market-the Khan market..where knowing Arabic is must so you can get the best bargain!

forests of khartoum
went running in the khartoum forest today. a few months ago this area was completely covered due to flooding of the nile. the forest runs along the white nile and if you are lucky you can see monkies ! i didn't see any but some of the faster runners did.
it was so peaceful and beautiful in the woods. a nice change from the red Cinnamon earthy dust that is usually the color of khartoum.

rowing and kayaking on the nile
I had the greatest time today rowing and kayaking on the Blue Nile. I met some great folks who run the Boating Club and they took us out on their boats. I now have a new hobby for Saturdays. At least during the dry season (Now- March).
We also had tea and fresh fish with our new friends as well! yummy!
One funny moment not caught on camera was when I tried out the rowing boat for one person. That thing is hard to balance! I totally capsized was drenched and then when I got out to pull it a shore was knee deep and muddy nile silt. It was like quick sand! Crazy! The water felt good though! Next time Ill wear my bathing suit under my clothes =)

running through farms of manchia
on monday the hash/running group was in an area called manchia where there are lots of farms. it was so beautiful!
when we go for our run we have to follow the path which is set hours before with flour arrows. sometimes there are multiple ways to go and you have to run and see if you can find another arrow..if not you turn around and go the other way. so it can be a bit like a scavenger hunt sometimes.
(I also posted a picture of a plant i always see here in khartoum. it has huge green grapefruit looking things on it..but is not fruit and i heard if they burst the stuff in side can sting and hurt pretty bad..so i just took a picture.)
school is winding down we have 2 weeks and 2 days left!! i can't believe it. and if the eid holiday starts early (depends on the moon) the last 2 days we may not have many students although school will be open.
can't believe 1/2 of the school year is coming to a close.
