This weekend was lots of fun. I went to the pool and then on Saturday night I went to a dinner that featured Ethiopian Dancing. It was on the top floor of someones roof and the music was loud and the dancers were great...I felt like I was back in Ethiopia. We even saw fireworks! Some went off for some new gov't buildings that were opened and the view from the roof allowed us to seem the show perfectly.
I also got 2 parakeets from Salah my amjad driver in the mornings. They sing all the time and love the mirror toy I got them. I got the same birds at the end of last year and named them Tamia (the falafel that is a main fare here) and Tellatah (the number 3 and the area of the city I live in, Khartoum Tellatah).
I finished my first week of school and it already feels like I have been here a month. I don't know why time feels so much longer here..maybe its the heat.
My kids were hilarious today because it rained a little in the morning. All of a sudden they ran to the door.."Ms. Colston, Ms. Colston..Rain, Rain Rain!" Then they all ran out in the tiny rainshower. One student must have seen the funny expression on my face and said..."Well its very rare for it to rain here!" Which is oh so true. I also got out in the rain and enjoyed the few minutes of cool drops.
